The Kids You Don’t See Struggling

A letter from the founder of Fox & kids:

If you met my daughter, you’d never guess.

She’s bright, funny, creative, strong-minded, and deeply observant. She has striking blue eyes and a confidence people notice right away. Teachers describe her as thoughtful. Friends describe her as fun. To most people, she looks like a child who has it all together.

What they don’t see is what happens when the day ends.

At night, things unravel quietly. Socks can suddenly feel wrong. Pajamas that worked yesterday are unbearable today. Sheets feel too rough. A favorite sweatshirt — worn happily for days — is no longer an option. Her body reacts before her mind can explain why.

She learned early how to push through discomfort. How to smile and comply. How to keep going even when things feel overwhelming inside. What looks like strength on the outside often comes at a cost no one else sees.

Watching my child carry something invisible changed how I move through the world as a parent. I started noticing environments. Expectations. The quiet ways kids adapt just to fit in.

If this struggle sounds familiar, we invite you to explore our programs. I started Fox & Kids Studio because I saw how many children — including my own — needed spaces where they didn’t have to hide parts of themselves, and where confidence could grow without pressure to push through before they’re ready.

Contact us to learn more about Fox & Kids Studio and discover how our classes support children who hold it together on the outside but need space to exhale.

Warmly,

Indi Bates
